Children’s Ministry

Psalm 127:3-5 says “…CHILDREN are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them….”

Children are very important to God. Jesus took time out of His busy ministry to spend time with them and bless them. Vision India believes that reaching the children is a critical part of reaching India.

Did you know that 86% of Christians are saved before reaching 15 years of age; 10% between the age of 15-30; and only 4% after age 30? Any ministry concerned with reaching people with the gospel must look at reaching children. They are the church of the future.

Did you know:

  • India has more than 380 million children, the largest number for any country in the world?
  • one-third of India’s children live in abject poverty and neglect?
  • 380,000 deaths occur each year due to deficiencies of Vitamin A, iron and iodine and 210,000 children are born blind or turn blind by pre-school age?
  • 75 million children under 5-years of age are malnourished?
  • India has the dubious distinction of having the largest population of street children? Street children suffer from destitution, neglect, abuse, and exploitation. It is estimated that in urban areas alone there are 11 million children on the streets. Of these, 420,000 live in the six metropolitan cities of the country.

Many times children take a secondary place in the church, but Jesus said “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Vision India sees the great need of the children in India.  We reach out to them and their families through Children’s Bible Clubs where children are fed spiritually and physically and throught the House of Hope where orphan children can find shelter, food and receive an education in a Christian environment.
